Igor Jesus (Lisbon, 1989) develops his work in the field of sculpture, frequently drawing on technological devices, notably video imagery, sound and, more recently, photography, often making use of obsolete or disused technologies, which he subverts.
The exhibition trans-, now on display at the Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria Nacional, brings together a small selection of recent works and, notably, a series of sculptural pieces specifically conceived for this exhibition, as well as a new series of photographs and a group of three video sculptures. All the works reveal his interest in the mutability of things, in states of transition and change (hence the title), generating objects and situations for which there is no name or classification.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue featuring documentation of the works and texts by Delfim Sardo (also the exhibition’s curator), Joana Neves and Sara de Chiara.
