Fragmentos

Cristina Ataíde

Cristina Ataíde has been developing an artistic body of work characterized by an extraordinary multidisciplinary quality. Although she frequently employs drawing, painting, installation, and photography, it is in her sculpture that the artist seems to reveal much of the formal logic underpinning her work.
Fragmentos, presented at Galeria Quadrum, addresses precisely this: the concept of a sculptural body that comes apart, reassembles, and reorganizes itself according to the aesthetic—and, in a sense, ethical—principles that run through the artist’s work. Starting from a single object, the exhibition brings together a series of large-scale marble sculptures fragmented through a delicate balance between chance and design.
