The city of Lisbon, through Galerias Municipais/Lisboa Cultura – CML, has selected Portuguese artist Horácio Frutuoso to create a project room at ARCO Madrid. The Municipal Galleries consist of five contemporary art exhibition spaces: Galeria Quadrum, Pavilhão Branco, Galeria da Boavista, Galeria Avenida da Índia and Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria.
Horácio Frutuoso, born in 1991, lives and works in Lisbon. He has a degree in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto.
His artistic practice develops in the field of painting and graphic design, exploring codes and symbols of language, historical relationships and social representations. He has also frequently developed editorial projects, maintaining a regular collaboration with Teatro Praga since 2016.
His work is presented in different exhibitions and curatorial projects, having already been shown in venues such as the Serralves Museum, MAAT, Culturgest Porto, Porto Municipal Gallery, CIAJG – Guimarães, Atelier Museu Júlio Pomar, and Appleton Square. He is represented in several private and institutional collections such as the EDP Foundation Art Collection, Serralves Museum, Lusa Americana Foundation for Development, PLMJ Foundation, António Cachola Collection, MACAM – Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art.
