The city of Lisbon, through the Galerias Municipais/EGEAC – CML, selected the Portuguese artist Sara Mealha to create a project room for the purpose of ARCO Madrid.

The Galerias Municipais/EGEAC are composed of five exhibition spaces dedicated to contemporary art: Galeria Quadrum, Pavilhão Branco, Galeria da Boavista, Galeria Avenida da India and Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria.

Sara Mealha was born in Lisbon in 1995. In 2017, she graduated in Painting from the Lisbon University. She has been exhibiting regularly in group and solo exhibitions since 2017. Highlighted exhibitions include “A Dispensa” (Pavilhão 31, 2017), “Cola-Cuspo” (Espaço AZ, 2018), “Cabra Cega” (Galeria Balcony, 2019), “A Longa Sombra” (Maus Hábitos, 2020). She had her first solo exhibition, “Primeiro Socorro”, at Travessa da Ermida in 2018, and after that the exhibitions “Às Nove a Caminho” (Balcony Gallery, 2019), “Ou Não, Sim” (Casa da Cerca, 2021) , “Ne Pas Plier” (Zaratan Arte Contemporânea, 2023), and e “Meia Bravura” (Appleton Box, 2023). Her works are part of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Fernando Ribeiro Collection, among others.
