Eros and Errors, curated by Cathrin Mayer is a solo exhibition by Andreia Santana (1991, Lisbon) that presents a newly commissioned series of works for Galerias Municipais de Lisboa – Galeria Avenida da Índia.

The exhibition title enticed with phonetic whimsy, evokes both erotic and inquisitive language implications of the subconscious through a personal narrative.
The etymology of the word “error” traces back to the Latin syllable “err,” meaning “to wander” serves as backdrop for Santana’s robust yet delicate sculptures inspired by the mundane scaffolding structures of New York City, one of the artist’s temporary homes.

By chance or design, the title aligns with the object of inspiration. For the various wandering figures of a metropolitan city, these scaffoldings hold equal potential for becoming precarious shelters and erotic hideouts.
Eros and Errors presents an installation made of sculptures that emphasize the tension between the rigid modularity and the latent eroticism of these structures permeated by inscriptions of fingerprints, traces of body parts and scribbled words and graffiti-like marks enhancing the idea of a physicality of speech effected by identity, and dialects of desire.
