Noites de Verão [Summer Nights]

The music of HHY & The Macumbas featured on their two albums to date, “Throat Permission Cut” (2014) and “Beheaded Totem” (2018), grows into a live celebratory ritual. The Oporto collective, led by Jonathan Saldanha, creates ceremonial music from a dream team in percussion (João Pais Filipe, Brendan Hemsworth, Filipe Silva, Frankão) and the brass sections (André Rocha, Álvaro Almeida and Rui Fernandes). Live music lives in constant urgency, a state of euphoria akin to a ritual, always in contact with the vision-dub of Adrian Sherwood, the continuous existence of the Boredoms or the sonic infinity of Fela Muti.
