The Serralves Foundation presents in Lisbon, from May 19th to August 6th, an exhibition of its contemporary art collection. The exhibition will open on May 18th at Torreão Nascente da Cordoaria Nacional. It is organized in collaboration with the Lisbon City Hall and the Lisbon Municipal Galleries – EGEAC.
The Artists’ Choice: Works from Serralves Collection presents more than 40 works from the Serralves Collection in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, installation and video. The exhibition was conceived in collaboration with the artists, thus expanding the range of perspectives on the collection and valuing the uniqueness of each artist’s view about the works by their peers.

Works by 20 guest artists, Portuguese and from other parts of the world, are presented, accompanied by works by other authors that were selected by them and that are part of the Serralves Collection.
The choice of works included in this exhibition is thus based on a wide variety of affinities – ranging from pure admiration to the recognition of the importance of a certain work in the history of contemporary art, or the idea of presenting a hidden gem that an invited artist considers should be better known to the general public.
