This afternoon conversation departs from the exhibition On the edge of the landscape comes the world and features the participation of Constança Entrudo, Paulo Pires do Vale and Vera Mantero. Moderated by Liliana Coutinho and Rita Cêpa (from the collective of Curators of the Post-Graduate Course in Art Curatorship of NOVA-FCSH), this session will be centred on the exploration of the principal questions that embody the universe of the exhibition, which focusses on the contemporary artistic production from Madeira.
Artistic production presents itself here as an extension of a particular cultural landscape. But what does each participant contribute from their own landscape? The textile and fashion designer Constança Entrudo, together with essayist, curator and commissioner of the Plano Nacional das Artes, Paulo Pires do Vale as well as dancer, choreographer, performer Vera Mantero will be in discussion during this public program event.
The works on view here may refer to the island, but do not seek to be conditioned by it. Introducing new imaginary possibilities that are detached from physical borders, the public is invited to establish a dialogue with the speakers. As a means of joint reflection on the works presented in the exhibition “On the edge of the landscape comes the world”, this conversation is an opportunity for speculation on new relationships and archipelagos of meaning.
