Babuíno Talismã

Publication issued alongside the exhibition Babuíno Talismã by Daniela Ângelo, curated by Bernardo José de Souza, on display at Galeria da Boavista from January 12 to March 31, 2024. «Ângelo’s images do not necessarily represent an object, but rather comply to a sort of anomaly or mirage, a plastic operation that ends up betraying the ontological condition of scientifically typified elements. By unravelling the opaque nature of museums — which arbitrarily systematize knowledge about stripped artifacts belonging to varied cultures, often unaware of the primal or hidden nature of the pieces gathered —, the images in this exhibition will transfigure both the symbolic and the tangible realm.»
