HHY (2019)

Jonathan Uliel Saldanha

Jonathan Saldanha produces HHY from a mixing desk, thus colliding sounds from different origins within his oeuvre. Systems of percussion, electronics and voice are reorganised within a new spectrum and compression. Through his work, the sound and performance artist Jonathan Uliel Saldanha operates systems in which pre-historic language, crystallization, animism and echo travel between sound, light, space and gesture. In addition to VOCODER & CAMOUFLAGE, the installation presented in this exhibition, the artist also presented the piece SCOTOMA CINTILANTE [SCINTILLATING SCOTOMA], for a blind choir and score-sculpture (Catholic University of Porto, São Carlos National Theatre Lisbon) at the 2019 BoCa Biennial, and BROKEN FIELD ATLANTIS, a concert with a light score at TM Rivoli (2019).
