A cidade de Lisboa convidou Antonia Gaeta a realizar um project room no âmbito da ARCO Madrid. A comissária independente apresentou um projecto conjunto com dois artistas portugueses – Isabel Carvalho e Ramiro Guerreiro.
Ricorda che ogni inizio è un’invenzione della mente!
Mio nonno, mi ripeteva in continuazione questa frase, diceva che era di Paul Valéry e che l’autore, a causa di una crisi intellettuale e sentimentale, aveva preferito rimpiazzare il coeur con il cerveau. A mio nonno non piaceva molto lo stile di Valéry ma a me sarebbe piaciuto somigliare a Monsieur Teste.
Mio nonno si sedeva sempre nella stessa sedia davanti ad una grande finestra che guardava la Majella irradiata di luce e mi diceva: ogni volta che vado a Venezia ed entro nella chiesa di San Marco, immagino che è l’ultima e da lei mi separo con la malinconia delle separazioni definitive. Mio nonno era cieco ma a lui piaceva rimanere seduto in silenzio e contemplare la bellezza.

My grandfather repeated over and over this phrase, he said it was from Paul Valéry and that the author, because of an intellectual and sentimental crisis, had preferred to replace the coeur [heart] with the cerveau [brain]. My grandfather didn’t really like Valéry’s style but I would have liked to look alike Monsieur Teste.
My grandfather always sat in the same chair in front of a big window that looked at the Majella irradiated with light and told me: every time I go to Venice and enter the church of San Marco, I imagine it is the last one and I say goodbye with the melancholy of definitive separations. My grandfather was blind but he liked to sit in silence and contemplate the beauty.
